How to Do a Minions Remix with Voicemod

You’re going to need two things to create your Minions song: Audacity and Voicemod–both of which are free to download. Once you download Voicemod and get it set up on your PC, head into the Voicebox feature, where you’ll find our Custom Pitch voice. When you’re there, just follow these steps to start singing like a Minion:

  1. Raise the Pitch on Custom Pitch until you think you’ve nailed your Minion voice.  Be sure to take note of the number you set the Pitch at! Let’s say you started at 50 and increased to 75. You would then write down that you increased the pitch by 25%.
  2. Pick the instrumental version of the song you want to “Minionize.” Open it in Audacity and then drop its pitch by exactly the same amount you increased it in Voicemod (25% in our example). You can do that in Effect—>Change Pitch. Put that number in the “Percent Change” field and click OK.
  3. Keep Audacity open and, on a new track, record your vocals using both the dropped track as reference for the key and the Custom Pitch voice in Voicemod. Be sure to select the Voicemod Virtual Microphone as your input in Audacity!
  4. Once you’re done recording, bring the original track back to its original pitch and voila! A Minion star is born.

Pro Tip: We recommend doing this without hearing your voice. Just disable the “Hear Myself” option in the Voicemod app and you’re good to go.
